AUSSTELLUNG CINEMASHER

CINEMASHER ist eine dystopische, komprimierte Vorstellung davon, was mit unseren Gehirnen durch ständigen Medienkonsum geschieht. Eine chaotische Zusammenstellung von Schnipseln ohne Kontext – theoretisch anstrengend, entpuppt sich die Installation praktisch als eine entspannte und unterhaltsame Seherfahrung. Es gibt einem das Gefühl, die gezeigten Filme erlebt und verstanden zu haben, obwohl man in Wirklichkeit nur eine sehr ausgewählte Anzahl von Ausschnitten gesehen hat, die übereinandergelegt wurden. Eine optische, künstlerische Täuschung des eigenen Verstands.

Das Werk von Judith Meister und Dean Wallflower spiegelt das Medienkonsumverhalten der gegenwärtigen Gesellschaft mit wenig Geduld und viel Verlangen nach abwechslungsreicher Unterhaltung. Die philosophische Basis von CINEMASHER ruht auf der Tradition des Essayfilms. Als eine experimentelle Filmform am Rande des Dokumentarischen und der Fiktion, entzieht sich Essayfilm traditionellen Kausalität und Kontinuität und setzt subjektive Assoziationen, Analogien und Kontraste in den Fokus. Wie auch die Inspirationsquelle, entwickelt CINEMASHER eine eigene Erzählungsform, die subjektiv, fragmentarisch, und zugleich fesselnd und ästhetisch ist

CINEMASHER is a dystopian, compressed idea of what happens to our brains through constant media consumption. A chaotic compilation of snippets without context - theoretically exhausting, in practice the installation turns out to be a relaxed and entertaining viewing experience. It leaves one with the feeling of having seen and understood the films shown, although in reality only a small selection of snippets have been presented, layered over each other. An optical artistic illusion of the mind.

The philosophical basis of CINEMASHER is rooted in the tradition of the essay film. Dean Wallflower ist ein digitaler Medienkünstler und Programmierer, der sich auf Videosynthese und Bildmanipulation spezialisiert hat. Er erstellt, verändert und degradiert Filmmaterial zu texturalen Animationen.
